FT—EXP—01 / Design brief
Duels · Head to Head
A head-to-head game of seasons for exactly two players. You each grow a garden across five rounds of weather, sabotage and boss tiles; only the days your device can vouch for count. Deterministic where it matters, private by default, and short enough to finish over tea.
01 / The loop
Each round is a season. Both players lay crops onto their grid, the season's weather is revealed, and the board resolves: some tiles thrive, some are lost, some turn out to be boss tiles that must be answered. Between rounds there is a duel — a direct head-to-head where the stronger position takes from the weaker. After five seasons the richer garden wins.
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Verified days | Only days your device can vouch for count toward your score — presence is part of the game. |
| Streak multiplier | Consecutive verified days compound: ×1.25, ×1.5, ×2, up to ×3. |
| Shields | Spent to protect a tile from a season's weather or a rival's move. |
| Boss tiles | Special tiles that must be answered before they resolve against you. |
| Rest days | Deliberate off-days that preserve a streak without playing — rest is legal. |
| Season duels | Head-to-head resolution between rounds; the board state decides, not chance. |
| Exports | A match can be exported and shared — the record belongs to the players. |
02 / The rules it holds
Exactly two players. Not a lobby, not a leaderboard — one rival, one garden each, five seasons. The name is the promise: an iron-clad arcade for two.
Presence is verified, not claimed. A day counts when the device vouches for it. The game does not ask you to say you showed up — it knows.
Rest is legal. A rest day preserves a streak without a play. Sustained things need room to breathe; the rules say so out loud.
Private by default. Entry is gated; a match exists for the two people in it. No public profiles, no global ranking, nothing to compare against the world.
03 / The identity
Press Start 2P for the wordmark — the arcade, unashamed. Orbitron for system labels. Iron-gold (#E8C35A) on near-black, steel for the second voice. The board is a grid and the grid is honest: every tile shows what it is and what it is worth, and the weather never pretends to be fairer than it is.
Status. Live and playable. Balance passes and additional seasons are tuning, not missing foundations.
